PS5 and XBOX Series consoles
GTA VI is only coming to current-generation consoles. Players still on PS4 or XBOX One, and those who usually play on PC, will need to move to a PS5 or an XBOX Series to play it from day one.
PS5 Pro: the best possible picture quality for an open world in 4K.- “Digital” editions: the game is bought as a download, or with a disc drive sold separately.
- XBOX Series S: the entry-level option to play GTA VI on a small budget.
Storage and memory
Large open-world games commonly exceed 100 GB, and GTA VI’s is shaping up to be the largest in the series. On a console that is already full, space will run out on download day: offer the expansion and make an add-on sale.
- PS5: M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD, with a heatsink, which is essential to prevent overheating.
- XBOX Series: Series X|S games run from the internal SSD or a dedicated expansion card, not from a USB drive.
- External hard drive: to archive your other games and free up space.
Standard and pro controllers
Driving, aiming, chases: GTA VI is played for dozens of hours with a controller in hand. A second controller avoids recharging breaks and is handy for play sessions with friends. Pro models add back paddles, adjustable triggers and custom profiles.
- Official controllers in a range of colours: an easy impulse buy.
- DualSense Edge and XBOX Elite Series 2 for demanding players.
Gaming headsets
Rockstar games are known for their sound design: radio stations, busy streets, dialogue. A good headset lets you hear it all without disturbing the rest of the household, and a mic becomes essential as soon as you play online.
- Wireless: check compatibility with PS5 or XBOX, as the protocols differ.
- 3D audio on PS5, Dolby Atmos and Windows Sonic on XBOX.
- Noise-cancelling mic for online sessions.
Screens and TVs
An open world of this scale deserves a display to match. To get the most from a PS5 or an XBOX Series X, the screen must keep up in both resolution and connectivity. Bedroom, desk, living room: there’s a screen for every need.
- 4K HDR to enjoy 120 Hz when the game allows it.
- Certified HDMI 2.1 connectivity for high-bandwidth video.
Gaming furniture
Evenings on GTA VI will put your back to the test. Players with a dedicated space will need a desk and an adjustable chair.
- Adjustable height, armrests and recline for good posture.
- Lumbar and neck cushions included on most models.
- Understated or licensed styles for a desk that suits you.
